Behold the power of cheese?

Everyday Adventures

Er, no, more like behold the power of a tea-light!

Okay, so last night we went as a group to see King Lear and then back here for a not-completely impromptu after-party. Which, to explain the title, included using the fundue set I received as a Christmas gift. It rather amazes me that the one little tea light kept the ramekin of swiss cheese mixture not just warm but just below simmering for several hours! It was fun, and placing the tray on the ersatz coffee table turned out to be a good idea as it was easy to cluster around with chairs and such. Fondue may not make an appearance at the upcoming birthday party (not exactly that kind of theme) but it will show up in the future. I might even get a set that doesn’t include a Christmas tree-shaped ramekin with base and star holder lol

I really did enjoy the socializing with friends, and wow! it was 3 in the morning before people left. I consider that a positive sign lol Palmetto stayed behind and we put in a movie and then, since the Rum had worn off I gave her the option of crashing here versus me taking her home, and home she went. So, even though it was only 4am with the time change (I want my hour back NOW!) I didn’t get to bed until 5am.

And totally didn’t get up til almost 3pm.

Of course there were party leftovers to deal with, mostly the pumpernickel bread, but I had a plan for that! Tonight I used the chunks of bread, veggies from the fridge (that never made it onto the tray), sage, parsley, garlic, basil, 4 eggs and 2 cups of milk to make a savory bread pudding. And it actually turned out very tasty 🙂 The leftover brownies will go with me to work tomorrow.

I’m still not completely sure how I’m going to smoosh 30 or so people in here for the birthday party, though the patio will definitely be used (note: get patio furniture this month), and maybe the psuedo-yard. It’ll be cozy but that’s okay. I need to start some serious list-making, and get the invitations designed and printed before the end of the week though. Hmm… guess I’ll go get started on that!
