Weight off my shoulders

Everyday Adventures

2008 Estimated Taxes figured and the first quarter’s payment ready to go in Monday’s mail. Whew! Then spent the rest of the day working on an eHow article. Fun day! lol Actually, it wasn’t too bad, just the example required spending the afternoon beading for pictures. Tomorrow will be editing, drafting the next article and then starting on next week’s comics. Just another busy weekend in the life of me.

Progress: 39 pages!

Everyday Adventures

This puts me almost a day ahead (if I still consider that it’s Friday since _I_ haven’t gone to bed yet). Whew! Of course, tomorrow I’ll just be barely on track since I need to tackle things like estimated taxes for this year and get started on next week’s strips. But it’s all a part of the game. Getting those taxes figured and the first quarter’s installment paid will take a huge load off my mind, no question.

My birthday is coming up at the end of the month so it’s time, again, to put the word out on dinner plans. After some careful thought and a sudden flash of inspiration, I’ve decided that this year we’ll be meeting at El Jalisco on N. Monroe, Wednesday, April 30, at 6:30 pm. As always, presents are not necessary, I’d just like to have as many of my friends that can and want to come out and have a nice chatty dinner with me and my family. Just let me know if you plan to come so I know how big a table to get that evening.

Pecking away…

Everyday Adventures

Got another 2 pages in on the script (that puts me, um, 5 behind schedule, I’ll catch up this weekend). Sigh… Spectrum went back to Louisiana today so I guess I just needed an evening to adjust to the apartment being so empty again.

Little bit of a happy dance at the mail box, though: my personalized plate came in the mail today! Woot! Will have to put the tag on this weekend and take a picture of Electra with her colorful ‘R4ND0M’ license plate. Yes, I am just that much more of a dork now.

26 pages!

Everyday Adventures

Still puts me about 3 behind for where I should be for the month (tomorrow it will be 6, lol) but I’m still in good shape overall. This weekend will be catch-up time and maybe even get a smidge ahead. After the comic and finishing up an eHow article, of course.

Had a bit of a kitchen adventure tonight. After dinner (steak with mashed cauliflower) we made up the Amish (?) Friendship Bread from the starter that had been growing on the counter for the last 10 days. Instead of dividing and sharing we opted to cook all of it at once, which meant tripling the recipe (about) but it turned out I really didn’t have everything I needed. Subbed applesauce for oil (so, hey, it was healthier) and only had 6 eggs so boosted the leavening with extra baking powder. In the process we managed to drop a carton of salt into the mix (right side up, just made a bit of a splash) go through several spoons, and made a general mess. To a dozen muffins we added dried fruit, to a 9×13 pan of the batter we added a bag of butterscotch chips and the bundt pan just got the cinnamon-sugar treatment. Because of the substitutions it turned out a little more dense (esp. the muffins) than it could have, a little chewier, but the butterscotch version totally rocks. Probably because of the added fat from the chips, truth be told.

Tuesday Sushi

Everyday Adventures

I wanted to go out tonight and Spectrum wanted Chinese so we went out to Rice Bowl for dinner. Oh, so much food, so much good food. And, yes, some sushi as well πŸ™‚

Writing-wise I drafted an eHow article and then maybe got another page or so done on Wedding Tarot. I admit, I was not incredibly on-task tonight but I did get a soupcon of work done. It counts. Relatively unforunately, Spec is planning to sign a lease on an apartment tomorrow so that means he’ll be going back to Louisiana again (sigh) so I want to hang out with him as much as I can. If that means pecking away at something on the couch next to him, so be it, and I’ll work like the devil when he’s away. But, you know, the sooner her leave the sooner he’ll be back for good, then we can figure out how to date in the same city when we’re not temporarily cohabiting. Whee!

Plus, I totally have him hooked on Real Housewives of New York City πŸ˜‰
